【God Bless China】 (GBC) – the Toronto North American Wuhan Rescue Group

　　In early 2020, the breaking news of the coronavirus spreading across Wuhan reached North America. Meanwhile, both J and Cath from Toronto have family members  fighting at the forefront in the hospitals in the epidemic center.On Jan 23, J's spontaneous rescue action attracted the attention of many Chinese people around him. Everyone wanted to contribute to providing rescue resources for Wuhan. The desperately needed medical-standard supplies were as valuable as lives on the front line! This urgent mission gathered groups of loving hearts from the Chinese communities in Canada and the U.S., the Toronto Singles Group, the Toronto 80’s Sports Group, Hairui Middle School of the United States Chinese Students Group, and the Gagner Wuhan Group, a Wuhan local volunteer team. 【God Bless China】 (GBC) – the North American Wuhan rescue group was established in Toronto Canada.

　　Led by the organizers, J, Queenie, Michelle, and Youqi, GBC members managed to quickly exchange the donated charity funds into a large quantity of scarce medical supplies and then delivered them to Hubei Province of China after overcoming a variety of difficulties in purchasing and logistics with wisdom, teamwork and persistent efforts.

　　On Jan 25,the first batch of supplies arrived at night.Yet, a river cut the road towards the original destinated hospital in Wuhan. The volunteer in China and J made a quick decision to change the original destination, the Chinese Medical Hospital, into the No. Two Hospital of Xiaogan which located in the suburb. To complete the task successfully in time, the local volunteer, Mr. Tang, risked his life and delivered the urgently needed 20,000 medical masks and 30 medical suits in person into the infected area close to the hospital. It was filled with excitement, when the photos of the volunteer passing the supplies to the hospital were posted in GBC’s WeChat group.

　　As of Jan 27, 2020, the second batch of 100 sets of standard medical protective suits sent from the Toronto GBC group would be expected to arrive in Wuhan soon. The third and the fourth batches of the North American rescuing medical supplies procurement had been completed and would soon be delivered to the point-to-point rescue units: Wuhan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and Wuchang Hospital via the International Rescue Supplies Green Channel. Right now, we know there are many overseas Chinese charity groups around the world that are making the same efforts which we have done. As the overseas Chinese, we deeply understand that the respect towards us from the other nations only comes from the world’s respect towards our own nation. Defeat the Virus! Go China go!
